This Privacy Policy covers this website, the Progressive Downloader (PD) macOS application, and PD Link for iOS/iPadOS, including the mobile-device link features (together, the "Service").
This page explains what information is collected, stored, or processed when you use the Service. Progressive Downloader (PD) is a download manager, so some information needed to create, sync, troubleshoot, and complete downloads can be sensitive, such as download URLs, referrers, cookies, user agents, and support reports.
Most download-management data is stored locally on your computer or mobile device. This policy focuses on information that may be sent to, stored by, or processed through our website/API servers or third-party services used by the Service.
We collect or process information for the following purposes:
When you visit the website, your browser and our web server may provide normal web request information such as IP address, user-agent string, requested page or file, request time, and referrer.
When the application contacts the API, it sends an app device id, app version, operating-system version, locale, and request-specific parameters. The app device id is used for update checks, feature flags, Plus activation, abuse prevention, support, and product diagnostics.
Update and news checks may record IP address, app version, operating-system version, feature/event flags, and downloaded byte/file counters. These values help provide compatible updates, feature enablement, and basic product diagnostics.
If you enable Plus features using a Mac App Store purchase, the app sends the app device id, app version, operating-system version, and Mac App Store receipt to the API. The receipt is used so Plus entitlement can be recognized.
If you send feedback from the app, we collect the information you choose to submit, such as your name/email string, problem description, app version, app device id, and optional system information report. The system information report is included only when you choose to include it.
The Service supports sending download requests from a mobile device to a selected computer in two ways: Apple iCloud/CloudKit and the PIN relay.
PD Link currently sends the submitted URL only for mobile-device download requests; it does not send cookies, referrer, or user-agent.
For the iCloud/CloudKit path, presence and download request records are stored in the user's private CloudKit database in the Apple iCloud container used by the app. These records may include information needed to show available computers and deliver download requests, such as the selected computer, submitted URL, request status, and scheduling information. These CloudKit request records are not protected by an additional app-specific encryption layer before being stored in CloudKit.
For the PIN relay path, our API stores connection information needed to link PD Link with the selected computer, deliver requests, show status, remove requests, and prevent abuse.
For PIN relay download requests, the submitted URL is encrypted by the clients before it reaches our API. The API stores only the encrypted form of those request details.
If you use video-page downloading, the app may send the requested video page URL, selected format options, app device id, app version, and related request data to the API so the actual downloadable media links can be resolved. For non-Plus users, the API stores limited information for throttling and abuse prevention. Temporary queue data may be stored while a video resolver job is running.
If you submit a translation suggestion, the API stores the submitted text, locale, app device id, and related review information. Browser user-agent helper storage may store browser identification, browser version, and user-agent string.
The website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for normal website operation or analytics. Cookies are small files stored by your browser. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. You can also .
Progressive Downloader (PD) can also read cookies from the external browser it is integrated with when you enable browser-cookie sharing and macOS permissions allow it. That browser-cookie feature is used to make authenticated downloads work for local tasks. PD Link does not currently send browser cookies as part of mobile-device download requests.
The Service uses the collected data for various purposes:
Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
The website/API is operated through internet hosting infrastructure. Apple iCloud/CloudKit data is processed by Apple according to the user's iCloud account and Apple's terms. Google Analytics data is processed by Google when analytics is used.
By using the Service, you consent to this processing as needed to provide the Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information only in the situations described below.

The security of your data is important to us, but no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we use reasonable measures to protect the data handled by the Service, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
For the PIN relay, submitted download URLs are encrypted by Progressive Downloader (PD) and PD Link before they reach our API. Some service information remains visible to the API so requests can be connected, delivered, updated, removed, and protected from abuse.
The iCloud/CloudKit path relies on Apple's CloudKit private database and transport protections. The app does not add its own extra encryption layer to CloudKit request records.
We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.
These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Progressive Downloader (PD) and PD Link can use Apple iCloud/CloudKit to let a mobile device find and send download requests to the selected computer. CloudKit records are stored in the user's private iCloud database for the app's CloudKit container.
We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website and event usage. Google may process the data collected according to Google's own privacy policy.

We keep server-side information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
PIN relay records are removed automatically in normal operation. Temporary connection data expires quickly, inactive connections may stop being available, and relay download requests are removed when they are completed or no longer needed.
Feedback and Plus activation records may be retained so we can provide support, diagnose issues, and recognize Plus entitlement.
You can avoid sending feedback or optional system information by not using the feedback submission feature or by leaving system information disabled.
You can disable mobile-device downloads in the Integration preferences in Progressive Downloader (PD). If you use the PIN relay, you can disconnect linked mobile devices. If you use iCloud/CloudKit, you can manage iCloud availability and app access through Apple account and system settings.
You can disable browser-cookie sharing in the app if you do not want Progressive Downloader (PD) to read cookies from the browser it is integrated with. Some authenticated downloads may not work without browser cookies.
Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
